Willard J. Hill's Obituary
Willard J. Hill, age 98, of Marietta and formerly of Clarkdale, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013. Willard was a member of Clarkdale United Methodist Church and retired from Coats & Clark Thread Mill. He loved carpentry and gardening. Once, while on his knees working in his garden, a terrible thunder storm came and his beloved wife tried to get him to come into the house and he just ignored her. She then just turned around, threw up her hands and said, “O.K. Lord, there he is, if you want him, just take him.” That was over six years ago!
Willard was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Nix Hill and his daughter, Millie Wilbur. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Cecil Price of Hiawassee, Nancy and Al Tibbitts of Marietta, Debbie and Max Myers of Kennesaw and Ken Wilbur of Powder Springs; sons and daughters-in-law: Marvin and Sandra Hill of Powder Springs, Dan and Lagena Hill of Lawrenceville; sister-in-law, Dot Nix of Fairburn; and brother-in-law, Curtis Ragsdale of Hiram; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 7th from 4:00 until 8:00PM. The funeral service to honor his life will be held on Tuesday, October 8th at 11:00 AM in the Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Scott Pickering officiating. Burial will follow in Powder Springs Cemetery.
