Waymon Denver Story's Obituary
Waymon Denver Story, age 83, of Smyrna passed away June 4, 2022. Waymon was born to Charlie Wayne and Katie Mae Story in Roopville, GA, and he graduated from Roopville High School. After graduation, Waymon proudly served his country for 4 years in the Air Force. He went on to have a long career in Management and Training at IBM, and retired in 1993. Waymon was a hard worker and liked to stay busy, and one way he did that was through volunteering at the Mable House Amphitheater and working with the Cobb County Board of Elections. A long-time member of First Baptist Church of Mableton, he served proudly in the food pantry ministry and as a deacon. Waymon was also a member of the South Cobb Lions Club. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Waymon is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Windom Story; and brother, Charlie Story. He is survived by his children, Mark Story of Smyrna, and Susan Danser (husband, Russ) of Powder Springs; siblings, Lela Mae Bush and C.W. Story; sister-in-law, Barbara Story; grandchildren; Matthew Story (wife, Averi), Micah Story, Madeline Danser, Olivia Danser, and Alex Danser; great-granddaughter, Charlie Joyce Story; special friend, Betty Curvin; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2:00 pm at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Tim Childers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
