I had the honor of working with Waymon for several years at IBM and always enjoyed running into him and Joyce at the Mable House and around Mableton. Waymon was a true gentleman and one of the happiest fellows I've ever known. Always a delight. My condolences to the family. Waymon's a lot to miss.
Yesterday was our first Food Pantry day without Waymon. He will be so missed by our food pantry people and by the community. He was so much fun to work with and made us laugh all the time. The french bread from Publix is now called "Waymon Bread". We love you Waymon!
The Little Family
Waymon was a wonderful man with many fantastic characteristics. One of those traits was his willingness to work hard to serve his fellow man. That is why I was so exciting to hear that Waymon was recognized by Cobb Collaborative as a 2016 Citizen Of The Year. They cited many of his accomplishments such as his work running the kitchen and food pantry at the First Baptist Church of Mableton, his South Cobb Lions Club where he has served in just about every capacity including Club President, Cobb Elections where he was elevated to important areas of responsibility, Meals On A Mission where he delivered food to people in need, Cobb Parks greeting guests at the Mable House Ampitheater, Keep Cobb Beautiful with his litter clean-up efforts and his many other good works around the community. All of those contributions to our area were always conducted with the unique combination of love, grace and gentleness of a truly blessed man. We will miss him greatly...
I will always have wonderful memories of Waymon Story and his family. He and his family were active in our church and the community. Waymon loved people, and would always find a way to be of service when there was a need. He loved to visit in homes of the shut-ins of our church. He was faithful to the Lord, and to his family. He will be greatly missed. Love and prayers to family.
Waymon was an incredibly kind and selfless man of the Lord. He took my wife and I under his wing not only while we were at FBC Mableton, but also after we left. I wish we had been able to stay connected more after we moved away, but I will never forget his kindness and generosity to Kate and I.
I have lost my very best friend. Heaven's gain! Waymon and I sat and talked last Friday afternoon for over 2 hours. He was the first one to visit us as a family from FHBC long ago. If you look up the word "Christian" in a Dictionary, you find his photo. He truly lived his faith, and now he's having his reward with the LORD! I will never forget him!
