Ruth Strickland's Obituary
Ruth Strickland, age 97, of Lithia Springs passed away May 2, 2016. Ruth was born March 31, 1919 in Carrollton, Georgia. The oldest of eight children, Ruth was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Richardson. Ruth was married to Mr. Roy Strickland. She was a life-long resident of Lithia Springs. She had three daughters, Shirley, Dianne, and Kitty. At age 52, she received her cosmetology license and later retired at age 80. Ruth was a hard worker, loving mother and grandmother, caregiver, and she was loved by many. She always had a smile on her face and rarely complained. She had resided at Presbyterian Village since 2008. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; daughter, Shirley Cloud; and brothers, Frank, Ralph, Gene, Pierce and Grady; sisters, Grace and Margaret. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Lawler of Lithia Springs, Kitty Hunter of Lithia Springs; her sister, Pauline Cochran of Cedartown; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 5th at 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Marion Beaver and Pastor Marty McLain officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Austell, GA.
