To the Family of Robert W. Shirley Sr.;
Death is an enemy that affects many of us, the God of comfort has promised to destroy this enemy and gives us the hope of seeing our love ones again at John 5:28,29 where he promises a resurrection. I hope this bring comfort to the family.
Bob and Shirley were at a booksellers convention in Atlantic City, NJ more than 30 years ago, where a mutual friend introduced us. We were living in Decatur, GA at the time and they had a bookstore in Mableton. The Lord bound our hearts together and within a few minutes there in NJ, we had made plans to launch a ministry in the back of their bookstore. It led to the founding of a private Christian school and a church. later on, we were privileged to assist in Bob's ordination. We lost touch for a while; but we all wound up members of the same Douglasville congregation. It has been an inspiration to know Bob. He has been one of the kindest, most peaceful and loving servants of the Lord Jesus Christ that I have known. I look forward to our eternal fellowship in the presence of our Lord Jesus. -- Dr. Douglas and Mrs. Jackie Chatham
i have so many wonderful memories of my PaBob, i can not just pinpoint one. i admired many things about him but one of the greatest was the fact that he loved me and Shayne like we were his own. from the day my dad married Renae, PaBob and Mama Shirley considered us their blood. they loved us unconditionally and completely. we have always felt like we belonged and never made to feel we weren't a true part of the family and what a wonderful family to be a part of!! i have been truly blessed and honored to be able to call this wonderful, dear, Godly man my grandfather. he will forever be in my heart and loved always. he is a true inspiration to me as well as so many others.
I first met Bob in 1970 when he interviewed me at the Ga. Dept. of Labor. I was his first secretary and he was my first boss. Bob was such a kind and caring gentleman and I knew the Lord had blessed me in giving me a Christian boss. My husband and I soon met Shirley and the kids and what a blessing it has been to know this family over these many years. We also frequented their Christian bookstore and our kids also grew up knowing Bob & Shirley. What a testimony of Christian faith they were to our kids. Bob will be truly missed and he will always hold a special place in our hearts. We will be lifting up this dear family in our prayers in the days and weeks to come. We love y'all.

I met Bob and Shirley at their bookstore in Mableton years ago when I used to shop there. He was one of the most gentle and kind men I have ever known. He truly was a shining light for the Lord he loved. He also passed his faith and grace to his children, one of whom has employed me since 2006. His legacy will no doubt live on through his family. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Condolences to his dear family.
Charles and I are so Blessed and honored to have Pa Bob in our lives. Never have I known a more God fearing man. A man of Godly wisdom and a spirit that can only
be from our Lord. He has been a joy to all who knew him and will forever be a part
of our lives. Charles & Opal James
