Richard Trabert's Obituary
Richard William Trabert, age 79 of Mableton, GA, formerly Tellico Village, TN passed away after a long battle with cancer surrounded by both his daughters on May 12, 2020. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Knoxville, TN.
He was born June 23, 1940 in Harrisville, PA where he grew up with his parents Charles and Margaret (Detisch) Trabert and 3 siblings, Irene, Dave and Shirley. After a successful completion of school and High School Graduation, he went on to serve in the United States Airforce, 1959-1962. It was after discharge, that he met Sally Fogel and the love of his life. They married on October 15, 1966. This was the beginning of his family life where his career in Life Insurance took them to Michigan and they raised their two daughters, Richele and Erin. He loved his family and was a dedicated husband, father and man of faith. He always said, “I could take my family to a deserted island and be perfectly happy!” He loved to enjoy life to the fullest with his bride by his side. He enjoyed being social with friends and family, playing cards, bowling, golfing, dancing, boating and traveling. His favorite destination was Hawaii! The effect he had on the ones that knew him was that of a kind, gentle soul. That kindness and love continued with the time he was able to be a “Grandpa” to his three grandsons, Dylan, Connor and Colton.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Trabert. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Richele and John Morog of Mableton; daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Chase Pinkerton of Kennesaw; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Bill McCarrier of Pennsylvania; brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Sandy Trabert of Colorado; sister, Shirley Trabert of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Dylan Morog, Connor Morog and Colton Pinkerton; several nieces and nephews.
Richard, loving husband and father, has touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed. In this time, we hold to our faith as he would and listen to...
Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Rest in peace daddy, we love you!
Richard’s wishes were to have a private catholic mass with just his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or to Parkinson's Foundation.
