Richard Alan Melton Sr.'s Obituary
Richard Alan Melton, age 80, of Mableton, passed away On Monday, December 12, 2022.
Richard was born March 14th, 1942 in Cobb County, the son of the late Alfred and Ruth Melton. Mr. Melton was retired from Austell Gas, where he worked for over 45 years and Standard Bookkeeping and Tax where he worked for over 45 years. Richard enjoyed family, friends, the mountains, the beach, archery, hunting and fishing, but most of all just talking to people and listening to their stories.
Richard was a member of Austell First United Methodist Church. He was also a longtime member of the Austell Rotary Club.
Richard loved his family and his family loved him and will miss him greatly. His greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Kathryn White Melton, and his brothers Gene Melton and Charles Reitz. He is survived by his brother, Mark Reitz, of Independence, LA. and his children, Richard Alan Melton, Jr. of Pensacola, FL, Jason Kyle Melton of Winston, GA, Louie Ramsey Johnson of Bremen, GA and Heather Melton Smith of Cartersville, GA, and his grandchildren, Austin Johnson, Ashton Melton, Caylee Johnson, Cole Johnson, Trae Melton, Makyle Melton, Henry Smith, Carson Melton, Thomas Smith, David Smith and Isaac Smith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Kevin Lobello officiating. Interment will follow the service at Davis Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Austin Johnson, Trae Melton, Ashton Melton, Cole Johnson, Henry Smith and Thomas Smith. Honorary pallbearers are David Smith and Isaac Smith.
Flowers are kindly accepted, however, in lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity in Richard's name are greatly appreciated.
