Raymond William McGill Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond William McGill Jr., age 100, of Decatur passed away February 2, 2017. Raymond was the last surviving firefighter of the Winecoff Hotel Fire in 1946. He wrote a firemen’s training manual that is still used today all over the world. Raymond is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Tom Carlin of Texas; grandson, Thomas M. Carlin and wife, Cameron Carlin of Powder Springs; great-grandson, Garrett Carlin; sister-in-law, Mrs. M.F.. McGill. He is also survived by extended family, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Carnes; Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy Pullen and children, Lillie and Micah Pullen. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday 1:00 PM at Westview Cemetery with Chief of Forsyth Fire Department Danny Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-9:00 PM at Davis- Struempf Funeral Home, Austell.
