John Timothy Townsend's Obituary
John Timothy Townsend, known affectionately as 'Tim,' 61, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 10th, 2023, at 11:38 PM due to full cardiac arrest.
He was born in Austell, GA on August 2nd, 1962, to parents Rev. Harold Glenn Townsend and Evelyn Darlene ‘Dot’ Jordan. He graduated in 1980 from McEachern High School. He was married to Kathy Denise Jones for 29 years, until they divorced in 2012. They had two children: Katie and Joshua Blake.
He worked as a Tractor Trailer Operator for the United States Postal Service.
He was an avid tinkerer and prankster, living to make people laugh and smile. He could light up any room when he walked in. He loved working on and racing cars, playing on computers, jamming out to anything Elvis, and relishing his time on the road in his big truck all over the country. He had a passion for gadgets of all kinds, adored his ZX-14R motorcycle and his Ford Taurus, cherished the family dog Arrow, enjoyed joking with anybody who would listen, but above all, he loved his family more than anything.
Tim is survived by his children, Katie Auger (Andrew), Blake Townsend (Christine), and his grandchild, Aiden Townsend. He is also survived by his mother, Darlene Townsend, and his brothers, Ricky Townsend (Karen) and Jeff Townsend.
The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service on Monday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 18, at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens.
