John T. Laster, Jr.'s Obituary
John T. Laster, Jr., age 88 of Dallas, passed away January 21, 2013. John was a member of Canaan Fellowship Baptist Church in Mableton. He was a World War II veteran, serving with both the United States Army and the United States Navy. John retired from Cobb County government and was a member of Mableton Masonic Lodge No. 171. His wife of 65 years, Polly Laster, preceded him in death.
John is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law: Wyleen Thomas of Cartersville, Annette & Gene Smith of Eatonton, Cheryl & Tommy Turner of Kennesaw; grandchildren; Mickey & Melissa Dunn, John & Sheri Rowell, Billy Rowell, Jimbo Dunn & Tracey Bailey, Melissa Turner, Dana & Jimmy Gossett, & Marcella Turner; great-grandchildren; Tyler Rowell, Matthew Edwards, Benjamin Edwards, Preslee Gossett, Peyton Gossett,, Dakota Bailey, and Cloey Bailey; brothers & sisters: Frank Laster, Jack Laster, Bobbie Jo Rolen, and Mary Lou Goble, all of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at Davis-Struempf Chapel on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kent Cole and Rev. J.D. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory in Austell.
