Jimmy Dale Marcus Jr.'s Obituary
Sergeant First Class (Retired) Jimmy Dale Marcus, Jr., age 73 of Powder Springs passed away February 2, 2025.
Jimmy served his Nation faithfully with the United States Army in both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm, 145 Medevac Unit. He was part of a rescue mission in Columbus Georgia and a Relief Mission during Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Jimmy retired from the Army after 28 years of service.
After his military service, his career included working with Coke and Home Depot. He was an experienced electrician and a Leader of Men and Women.
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and diving. He also enjoyed photography and was a collector of Civil War memorabilia.
Jimmy was a proud American, and most of all loved his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cynthia Marcus; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Mercy Marcus of Dallas; Jason and Amanda Marcus of Dallas; sister, Pam (Jim) Ryan of Manchester, TN; brother, John (Cindy) Marcus of Rockmart; sister, Trina Marcus of Powder Springs.
He is also survived by his grandchildren that he enjoyed eating Oreos with, Kevin (Jenna) Thompson, Brady Marcus, Hanna (Nathan) Tilson, Rayleigh Marcus, Reece Marcus, Justus Marcus; Jake, Lily, Zaine, Brooklyn, Gerrard, Gwen; Great-Grandchildren, Callie Thompson and Trenton Tilson and a football team of nieces and nephews; beloved dogs, Kinzie, Joy, and Izzy.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Anthony Guidry officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM as well as Saturday prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM.
