Jean Lovvorn Dewberry's Obituary
It is with full and grateful hearts that we celebrate the life of Jean Lovvorn Dewberry of Marietta Georgia who died peacefully at Presbyterian Village on January 15, 2019. Jean led an extraordinary life. She was born in July 1922 in Bowdon Georgia to Ross and Pearl Lovvorn. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Georgia and West Georgia College. In 1947 she married Roy Dewberry of Temple Georgia and moved to Cobb County to raise their 3 children. Those years were filled with memories of yard ball and vacation trips to Florida in an un-airconditioned car. At the young age of 52 Jean was widowed and she redirected her life to traveling when not teaching and family events. Jean retired from Cobb County School System after 32 years. After retirement she traveled the world, played dominoes with friends, gardened, read and joined too many clubs to list. She was a worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 314. She was a long-time member of Austell First Baptist Church and Secretary of her Unity Sunday School Class. She was a remarkable lady of great determination, independence, and dedication whether it be her job, faith in God or her role as head of her family. She is survived by her three children: Mike Dewberry (Mary Ann) of Milton Ga, Nancy Wallace (Greg) of Powder Springs Ga, and Beth Fields (Ronnie) of Mableton Ga. Grandchildren: Mark Dewberry, Scott Wallace (Shannon), Amanda Taff (Steven), Heather Little (Jeff), Chad Fields (Elizabeth). Great Grandchildren: Ansley and Allie Kate Wallace, Caleb and Finley Taff, Mason, Ava, and Bella Little, and Maggie and Dylan Fields, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the very dedicated and special staff at Presbyterian Village whose care was exceptional.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from 12:00-2:00PM at the funeral home. www.davisstruempf.com
