Hollis's name brings forth so many happy memories. For years she was the unofficial social coordinator of our neighborhood,Glenleigh. Her Friday night special, Happy Hour, provided a place for friends and neighbors to gather, share recent events, eat a wonderful meal together, and, where our kids could run and play under the half watchful eye of their parents, and everybody elses too. It was the highlight of a long work week, and even the kids looked forward to "Happy Hour".
Hollis enjoyed life, and wanted everyone else to enjoy it too. She encouraged Christmas Carolers with Hot Chocolate and cookies, and offered her garage for Holloween pumpkin painting for the kids when they were little. She even joined our tennis team, not to play tennis, but to provide adult beverages and social opportunity after the matches. On occasion she would be a good sport and fill in to play, so we wouldn't have to default.
Hollis lived life with joy, and her joy was contagious. Despite the different illness challenges over the last decade, she always greeted you with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. I think I will miss that twinkle the most.
So it is with joyful memories I look upon the life of a dear friend, and good neighbor and thank her for all her contributions to me, my family, and many others.
