Harold Joseph Holbrook, age 90 of Mableton, passed away October 10, 2013. Harold was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Combat Engineer Division. He was a longtime member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church and Read Obituary
Dot, Pat, Doyle & Lynn and entire Holbrook family, What an amazing Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather Ya'll were blessed with in Harold and he always made it known to all of us what a blessing he had in all of Ya'll. He was a best friend to me and my family. He helped me raise my children like they were his own. He helped me open and build and run my business like it was his own, brought me a ton of customers of which the list is to long to mention and most I still have today after 25 years and when I would meet them all the first time they would say Harold Holbrook said you were a good guy to sell scrap to and that was good enough for them and we would bond instantly. He would get up a pile of 5 gallon buckets or some junk from my place and tell me and my Son's Dustin or Chris to be ready about 4 AM on Saturday morning that he would swing by and we would head over to Collinsville Alabama for Trade Day, we would get there around 5:30 AM and start scrounging around with flashlights looking around in back of all the trader's pick-up truck's and before you know it he would have unloaded what I thought was worthless and we would head home with a load of Banty Hen's, Goats or Rabbit's and memories that are priceless. He also helped me carry countless (at least 50) folks who had stumbled on hard times mostly addiction problems to what was then First Step Recovery in Cobb County to get their lives turned around and most of them did, and this went on for over 10 years. He brought us Apples, Watermelons, Bar-B-Que and Brunswick Stew on those cold rainy day's when we all sat around and knew we all had a very special friend and when we thought it could not get any better he would whip out some of Dot's chocolate pound cake and move us to a level of satisfaction that great Leader's of this world have not enjoyed. I am so blessed to have had Harold as a Dear Friend and to have known all of you through him, He showed me how to be a good friend and I just Hope that we can successfully pass on to our families and friends this level of friendship, this leaves us huge shoes to fill but He did it for me and made my world a better place, so I'll follow his trail and try to always do more for others than myself and hope that I can leave this world with someone as Glad to have Known me as I was to know Harold.

Dearest Dot, Pat, Don, Doyle, Debra, Lynn, Melanie, and All,
I am so saddened by the loss of a lifelong friend! We will miss him terribly! Now, maybe he and daddy can go fishing and pelican hunting together while eating all the messy peaches they want!
I haven't told mom about Harold because she is suffering with Alzheimer's and every day is a new experience with someone I hardly know. Thank you for understanding! We love you so much and think about all the wonderful times. Those memories will sustain us through this difficult time. Love you bunches! You are in our prayers!
