George Jean Laurens' Obituary
George Jean Blaise Laurens October 3,1954 - August 9, 2020
George was a devoted son, brother, father and grandfather. He was born in New York City, New York, to Rene and Irma Laurens, now deceased. His family relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1957.
Survived by his sister Linda Laurens and brother Richard Laurens, George is survived by three children, Christopher, Michael, and Dawn as well as one granddaughter, Athena.
George's recent retirement from Cobb County's Property Management division as a supervisor for construction and building maintenance for twenty plus years was his dream job. Always family and community minded, George served as a Boy Scout Master for more than a decade, lead the Smyrna Swim Team Parent organization for several years, personally collected and assisted in MUST ministries and often opened his home and heart to displaced teenagers and young adults.
George was known to have an extremely good sense of humor, often called by family and friends a "walking party" and was the acknowledged family 'peacemaker'. George will be missed in our community of friends, former colleagues, and family.
