Fred Dennis Seagraves' Obituary
Fred Dennis Seagraves, age 84, passed away surrounded by his family on July 23, 2025.
Fred was born to Clyde Seagraves and Sylvia Hendrix Seagraves in Athens, GA, where he spent the first five years of his life. From Athens, the family moved to the Leland area, now considered Mableton, and Fred remained a Cobb County resident the rest of his life. He was a graduate of South Cobb High School, Class of 1960.
Fred was an extremely handy person and a diligent worker. He spent 28 years serving Delta Airlines in their Ground Support Equipment crew until his retirement in 1994. Unable to stay still and always looking for something to do, Fred soon came out of retirement to work for Delta changing signage and logos throughout various airports. He loved anything to do with tools and found joy in working for many years at the Ace Hardware in Douglasville.
Always a man ready to led a helping hand, Fred was never one to “show out”, only “show up”. He could be counted on when the chips were down, and would not hesitate to tell you his plan for the situation.
Fred attended many churches over the years. He helped build the main building at Praise Tabernacle Learning Center and once served as their treasurer.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and spouse, Linda Seagraves.
Fred is survived by his children, Greg Seagraves (Connie) of Powder Springs and Jenifer Davis of Ruskin, FL; siblings, Patricia Fields (Robert) of Nashville, TN and Jerry Seagraves of Powder Springs; grandchildren, Cory Keith, Madison Seagraves, and Shelby Seagraves; and many beloved extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
A funeral service honoring Fred’s life will be held Saturday, July 26, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. George Hill officiating.
