During the Georgia Ice Storm of 1973 my family lost power for many days and we were trying to get by living solely in our living room. We used our fireplace for our only heat and food prep and had to constantly move any food we had indoors and outdoors for refrigeration. Fred’s electricity got turned back on within 2-3 days and he found out we would be without power much longer. So, he immediately got a 4 wheel drive truck and came and rescued our family. We lived with him and his family in his house for about a week with heat, food, water and bathrooms because that’s who Fred and the Seagraves family was. To this day it is one of my fondest memories when we stayed with them and had a week-long “slumber party” as they took care of us. Fred will be missed by many.
