Faye Miers Golden 's Obituary
Faye Miers Golden, of Powder Springs, GA died December 30 in Hospice care. Faye was a native of Powder Springs, a graduate of South Cobb High School and attended Emory University. She married Gene Golden in 1955 and served in the ministry with him in local churches in Georgia and in the Air Force chaplaincy. She taught school for more than 30 years in Georgia, Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, Virginia and with the Department of Defense (DOD School System) in Europe and Asia. She returned to Georgia in 1996 when her husband retired. She taught briefly with the Paulding County School System before fully retiring in 1999. She positively influenced countless lives in the Continental United States, Europe, and Asia. Her commitment to her faith and her love of people moved her to serve people where ever she lived. Moving around as she and her husband did, she always established their home as a testimony to her love of family. She loved life and faithfully served Christ throughout her 79 years. Faye is survived by her husband, 3 daughters: Leah Smith of Lakewood Washington, Karen Vipperman of Sumter, South Carolina, Lydia Waits of Fayetteville, Georgia, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Ann Wilson of Duluth, Georgia, 1 brother, Steve Miers of Powder Springs, Georgia, sister-in-law, Kathleen Miers of Alpharetta and brother-in-law, George Smith of Austell, Georgia.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Davis- Struempf Funeral Home, Austell. After a private burial, a memorial service will be held at the Hiram United Methodist Church on Thursday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Charlie Green officiating.
