Dixie Lee Shreiner, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, gracefully departed this world on December 8, 2023, at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of her family. Dixie's life was a radiant example of grace, kindness, and enduring love.
Born on December 21, 1947, in Danville, Illinois, Dixie's journey led her to Atlanta, Georgia, where she spent her childhood on Maxham Road in Austell with her beloved family - Bud and Margaret Cronkhite, and sisters Gail and Kellie. A proud graduate of South Cobb High School, Dixie's roots in the community ran deep, shaping her into the extraordinary woman she became.
In her later years, Dixie made her home in Douglasville, Georgia, and in 2020, she moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, with her daughter Stacey and son-in-law Guy. Dixie's devotion to family was unparalleled. As a mother, she lavished her children, Stacey Oliver and the late Amy Shreiner (2017), with boundless love, instilling in them the values of compassion, resilience, and the unbreakable bonds of family. Her home was a haven of warmth, where laughter, cherished recipes, and shared stories created a tapestry of love that will endure through generations.
Dixie dedicated the majority of her adult life to the electrical business, retiring from Hesco Hicks Electric Supply Company. Her work not only provided for her family but also allowed her to build lasting relationships in the industry, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
An avid sports enthusiast, Dixie's heart belonged to the Georgia Bulldogs. Her passion for sports brought joy and excitement to her life.
Dixie's faith was an integral part of her journey, and she was a faithful Christian. Her enduring spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Dixie was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Shreiner; two grandchildren, Dustin Shreiner and Gavin Oliver.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Oliver; grandchildren, Jamen Costner, Mackenzie Costner, Zachary Rhodes, and Abbi Bray; seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Dixie's life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell, GA. The viewing will take place from 1 pm to 3 pm, followed by the service at 3 pm.
