Yvonne Scales Jones' Obituary
Yvonne Scales Jones, age 80 of Austell, passed away February 1, 2019. Yvonne graduated from West Fulton High School in 1956 and graduated from Oglethorp University with honors. Yvonne retired after 29 years from Lindley Middle School. She was the church organist for many years at Lithia Springs First Baptist Church and a current member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. Yvonne loved to travel in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille Maddox Scales and Otis F. Scales; son, Charles “Chuck” Jones Jr.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Charles R. Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Christiana “Chris” and Danny Brooks; daughter and son-in-law, Clarissa and John Payne; sister, Pat Egan; grandchildren, Jonathan (Lindsey) Brooks, Ashley (Erin) Jones, Timothy Brooks, Kimberly Payne, Kira Payne, John Payne Jr.; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00PM. She will Lie In State from 1:00-2:00 PM at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with Dr. Randal Whitten officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday February 2, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homestead Hospice Hope Foundation at http://www.homesteadhospice.net/donate.html or Piedmont Healthcare System at www.piedmont.org in memory of Yvonne S. Jones.
