Goodbye for now, my dear friend, whom I've known and loved literally from the day I was born (next door neighbor). I treasure the memories, 86 years of them(!), such as sitting up with you in the middle of your bed while you did your homework and I marked up my coloring book, and being inspired by your playing "The Blackhawk Waltz" on the piano. You were definitely an inspiration for my eternal love for the piano. You were old enough to answer many childhood questions, and young enough to be a companion and playmate. Later on, when husbands entered the picture, we all 4 enjoyed each other's company and raising our children. Your whole family, past and present, were/are an important part of my life. When I visited you at the Magnolia Home, we enjoyed talking about the old days and I was amazed at how much you remembered. Memories are one of the most precious blessings the Lord has given me. If you still have them, give Him a special, "Thank You," because now it is all I have of my dear friend, Willie. For now, I will enjoy every one of my memories while I play "The Blackhawk Waltz," wipe the tears, love those who remain, and look forward to the Great Reunion when we will all be together again!
