William Thomas Jones, III's Obituary
Mr. William Thomas Jones, III, of Lithia Springs, passed away March 12, 2010 at the age of 91. He was a retired Master Plumber and Steamfitter and owner of Jones & Howard, Inc. Mr. Jones, always a loving and Godly man, was a member of Lithia Springs Assembly of God. Prior to that, he was the music director of First Congregational Holiness Church of East Point for 35 years. Mr. Jones taught Sunday school throughout his life and especially enjoyed teaching the teens. Music was always important to him and he enjoyed memorizing chapters from the Bible. Later in life, he had the opportunity to pursue a love of fishing, tended his huge garden, and enjoyed a reputation as an excellent cook. He is preceded in death by his wives: Annie Belle Chalkley Jones and Juanita Short Jones; son, William Thomas “Tommy” Jones, IV; and siblings: Dan Jones, John R. Jones, Frances Russell, Alice Weiss, and Barbara Myers. He is survived by his loving family: daughter, Jeanette & Harry Sessoms of Cleveland, TN; daughter-in-law, Betty Jones of Mableton; step-children: Carole Gavalyas, Carl Purvis, and Steve Purvis. grandsons: Brad Sessoms of Cleveland, TN and Keith & Sonja Jones of Flowery Branch; great granddaughter, Olivia Jones; sisters: Daisy Morris of Falcon, NC, Mary Jo Adams of Decatur, and Harriette Brooks of Concord, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Bill Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, prior to the service, from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
