Mr. William Walter "Bill" Kouts, 88 of Powder Springs died Saturday, October 30, 2010. Bill was born in St. Cloud, MN to Walter and Pearl Kouts. He was Company Commander, United States Army, serving in both WWII and Korea. He married Madeline King, of Bethlehem, PA, in 1956. Graduated St. Cloud Technical High School and spent his career as an Explosives Technician for Atlas Powder Company,ICI America and Gulf Oil Chemicals. His hobbies/activities include gardening and music,(gifted bass vocalist). Member of the Men's Orpheus Music Society, St. Clolud, MN various church choirs including Sts. Peter and Paul and Sacred Heart Catholic Church choirs, Atlanta, GA., member of Decatur Civic Chorus, Decatur, GA, for over 20 years. He is survived by children, Nanette Kouts-Waters (husband Jimmy Waters) and Maribeth Kouts; William "Woody" Kouts; 2 grandchildren, Kathleen "Katie" Waters; Taylor Kouts; Half-Siblings, Damian Scherer and Rosa Scherer-Martinez. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 4, 2010, 2:00 pm, Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 353 Peachtree St., NE, Atlanta, GA 30308,404-522-6800. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 3, 2010, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Davis-Struempf Funeral Home, 1975 East-West Connector, Austell, GA 30106. Interment will be held Friday, November 5, 2010, 12:30 pm with Military Honors at the Georgia National Cemetery,2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA 30114, 770-479-9300.
