William "Buddy" Walker Jr's Obituary
William Joseph "Buddy" Walker Jr, age 78, of Villa Rica passed away June 20, 2018. Buddy was a fireman in his early career and went on to retire from Bellsouth. After retirement, he continued working and ran his own company, Sports Communications. Buddy had many interests, including golfing, fishing, hunting, photography, painting, and collecting. He particularly loved the North Georgia Mountains and enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Hiawasee, GA. In recent years, Buddy got the most joy out of playing Santa. He would visit nursing homes, special needs children, and law enforcement groups during the holidays, as well as attend community and family events. Even outside of the holiday season, he would carry around a pocket full of little bells to hand out to children all year long. Buddy is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Rae Walker. Surviving are his two sons, Bill (Cindy) Walker of Dacula, and Philip (Toby) Walker of Statham; grandchildren, Chase, Chelsea, and Hunter Walker; great grandchild, William Walker; brothers, Barry Walker and Brad Walker; and a host of in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23, 3:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM before the service.
