William "Scrappy" F. Thomas Jr.'s Obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of my brother and our friend Scrappy (William Franklin Thomas Jr.). Scrappy was born on September 7, 1961, in Austell Georgia. He passed away peacefully in his sleep early Sunday morning, on May 28, 2023. He was a graduate of South Cobb High school. He was also a graduate of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Mechanic School in Phoenix, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his Father, William Franklin Thomas, Sr., and his mother, Joyce Eubanks Thomas.
He is survived by his sister, Anna Thomas Hughes, her husband, Richard Alan Hughes and his two beautiful nieces, Elizabeth Joyce Hughes and Emory Anna Hughes.
He loved the outdoors and, by far, fishing and hiking in the mountains were his favorite things to do. He also loved riding motorcycles with his father and friends. Over his life he had many dogs but his best friend was Joe, a brindle pit-bull mix. Scrappy adored his nieces, Emory & Ellie, attending their soccer games, piano and ballet recitals and he loved to surprise them with unique gifts and money for bathing his dog, Joe. He also had a pretty nice cactus collection that he took excellent care of, so he always had a part of Arizona, which he loved, with him.
His wish to be cremated has been fulfilled. His funeral will be at Davis-Struempf funeral home, on the East/West Connector in Austell. Visitation will begin at 11 am Friday, the 2nd of June, and a brief service will begin, right after, at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Scrappy’s favorite charity, Heifer International at heifer.org
