William Augustus King's Obituary
William, fondly known as BK, WilleeHammer, and Bamboo, was born in Trinidad & Tobago and as a pre-teen he migrated to the U.S.
As a teenager, he became passionate about airplanes and quickly became an airline enthusiast and collector. He studied the schedules of different airlines. He had fond memories of his working days at Pan American Airways and Delta Air Lines. At Delta, he excitedly bid to work on the ramp just to be among the different types of aircraft.
He had strategically planned out much of his life here on earth. Hence he waited a number of years before he took the plunge of marriage and what followed from that time was an amazing journey. He was committed to the love of his life, Margaret and his family.
BK was a good friend who contacted his friends regularly to talk about music, new dishes and his beloved New York Knicks. He would have complete strangers in stitches on the spur of the moment with his outrageous comments.
BK described himself as "boogee” because he liked fine things. He knew what he wanted, never settled for less, and would find a way to fulfill it. His other passions included food and discovering new restaurants. He would also be thrilled at finding the long version of songs for his music collection.
BK is survived by his loving family: wife of 31 years and 7 months, Margaret Massiah- King; Sisters Carol (Kirkland), Sister Martin-Marie, O.C.D., brothers-in-law Richard Kirkland, Mark, Michael and Maurice Massiah; and sister-in-law Jennifer King; dear friends, Ken and Judy Singh. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and countless other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 10th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 87 Lacy Street NW Marietta, GA 30060. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in William's honor for AARP Foundation (Social Security & Medicare), https://www.aarp.org/aarp-foundation/.
