William Robert "Bob" Harber's Obituary
William Robert Harber, age 85, of Smyrna went to his Heavenly home February 11, 2024.
Bob faithfully served his community for 30 years as a police officer with the Atlanta Police Department, and he retired in 1990. After his retirement, Bob went on to operate his own real estate company, W.R. Harber Reality and Associates, Inc.
Bob and his wife, Jane, were long-time members of Calvary Baptist Church and they treasured their church friendships. In his free time, Bob could be found enjoying the great outdoors through camping and fishing. He was always the life of the room and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jane Wilson Harber of Smyrna; children, David Harber of Acworth, Don Harber of Cumming, and Randy Harber and his wife, Stephanie of Dallas; grandchildren, Kyle Harber, Alexis Harber, Hannah Mattix and her husband, Trent, and Gracie Harber; great grandchildren, Brady Harber, Jack Mattix, and Tate Mattix; siblings, Liz Harber of Rex, James Albert Harber and his wife, Helen of Dadeville, AL, and Lucy Drake and her husband, Pete of Collinsville, AL; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service honoring Bob’s life will be held Friday, February 16, 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Chris Noggle officiating. Interment will follow the service at Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
