William C. "Bill" Coggin III's Obituary
On Saturday, January 14, 2023, William C. Coggin III (Bill) passed unexpectedly at the age of 52, in Marietta, Georgia. He left the earth peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
Bill was born on June 24, 1970 to the late William and Barbara (Wade) Coggin. He was one of five children. His siblings include Ann Lane (Alan), Lynn Dowling, Lori Sands (Kevin) and Brian Coggin (Sarah).
He married Jennifer (Clayton) Coggin on August 15, 1992. Together, they built a life they loved and raised three amazing sons, Billy (wife Chase), Brandon, and Justyn.
Bill received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Georgia Southern University. Through dedication and hard work, Bill earned the title of Chief Technology Officer at Berkley Environmental Insurance Co. He was a valued employee of Berkley for 18 years.
Bill accepted Jesus as his Savior as a young child. He lived his life following the commandment of Christ to love others. This is best exemplified by the large number of friends he has and the people he has influenced through a life well-lived.
He was born and grew up in Waycross, Georgia. He and Jen lived and raised their children in the Atlanta area before recently achieving his dream of moving to Panama City Beach, Florida, where he could always feel the sun on his face, the wind in his hair, and the sand beneath his feet. He loved traveling with his wife and going on adventures. His favorite hobby was fishing with his sons, his brother, and his friends.
In addition to his wife, sons, mother, and siblings, Bill leaves behind his in-laws whom he cherished, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Bill has traveled to many places in this beautiful world, but he will go home for his final resting place, next to his father. On Thursday, January 19, visitation will be held at Crosby Funeral Home in Alma, Georgia from 10am-12. A graveside funeral will be held immediately following at 12:30 at Corinth Freewill Baptist Church, also in Alma, Georgia.
On Wednesday evening, January 18, the family will receive guests from 6-8 at the home of his mother at 2825 Park Ave in Waycross.
On Saturday, January 21, there will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service located at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell, GA for those more central to the Atlanta area. There will be visitation at 3, and the service will be from 3:30-4:30 in the afternoon.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers for the services, donations can be made to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation to help support their new facility dedicated to helping children in mental health crises.
