William "Bill" Henry Grosser's Obituary
William Henry Grosser (Bill), age 94, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014. He died at home surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York then raised and attended school in Connecticut. A World War II veteran, Bill survived D-Day, a German prisoner of war camp, and witnessed the historic incendiary bombing of Dresden, Germany. As a result of his service to his country, he was decorated with the American Defense Service Medal, the American Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Silver Star.
Bill was well known as a loving, devoted, quick-witted family man and loyal friend who particularly enjoyed exhilarating motorcycle rides, water skiing, watching baseball games, and spending time in the company of his family and friends.
Bill and his beloved wife Nancy raised two wonderful children in Bellingham, Massachusetts. He retired from management at AT&T after holding local, district, and regional positions. Bill was a member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers and was a Mason.
Bill and Nancy enjoyed a rewarding retirement in both Florida and Georgia. They spent many happy years together traveling, solving puzzles, and volunteering at the local library, the Salvation Army soup kitchen, the Telephone Pioneers, and their church. In later years, Bill enjoyed reading, wildlife, and baking homemade treats for his loved ones. Bill and Nancy are members of St. Benedict's Episcopal Church.
Bill and Nancy were just weeks from celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at the time of Bill’s passing. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Bill Grosser and his wife Tricia Lynn, his daughter Kristen Watson and her husband Stephen, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Grosser of Hamden, Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 24th at 11:00AM at St. Benedict's Episcopal Church, 2160 Cooper Lake Road SE, Smyrna, Georgia 30080. The Reverend Brian Sullivan will be officiating.
