Wilburn Chambers' Obituary
Wilburn Doyle Chambers was born October 12, 1934 in Cullman, AL. He was one of two children to Lonnie Doyle and Gladys Farley Chambers.
After school, he was drafted in the U.S. Army for two years of service. He was stationed briefly in Germany. After the service, Atlanta became his home. Wilburn retired from Sears after 25 years of service.
In retirement, Wilburn enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He never met a stranger and especially loved “Lake Life” at Lake Hartwell. Wilburn loved his pets, Maxie & Sampson, and enjoyed refurbishing old cars.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Johnnie Mae Chambers; daughter, Kelly (Joe) Cannon; grandchild, Christopher Cannon; sister, Myrle Clements; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 30th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 1st, 11:00 AM at Orange Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Lin Harrison officiating with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockmart, GA, 2:30 PM after the service.
