Wade "Pete" Hampton Butler's Obituary
Wade “Pete” Hampton Butler, age 77, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on September 1, 2022, with his beloved sisters and his brother Donnie by his side. Pete was born on April 4, 1945, to the late Robert Belton Butler and Ruby Nell Campbell Butler.
Along with his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his loving wife Rebecca Butler, siblings, Robert Butler, Allen Butler, Odell Butler, Calvin Butler, Marie Burton, Ellise Wooten, Bill Campbell, and Larry Campbell; grandsons Dustin and Austin Hart, and his first wife, the mother of his sons, Patricia Gordon.
Pete is survived by his sons, Tim (Sherry) Butler and Jeff (Heather) Butler; stepdaughters, Heather Wysocki, and Ashley (Randy) Rinehart; brothers, Franky Butler, Eddie Butler, Freddie Butler, Donnie Butler, Bobby Campbell, and Raymond Butler; sisters, Kay Harris, Brenda Long, and Donna Vaughn; grandchildren, Kayla, Channing, Brandon, Ryan, C.J, Branden, Hallie, Makenna, Tag, Preston, Addisen, and Channing; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Felicity, Dawson, and Gracie; and several nieces and nephews.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Pete. He loved his family and will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending winters at his hunting camp in Meriwether, GA. Pete was also a devoted college football fan and unconditionally supported his hometown team, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
A funeral service honoring and celebrating the life of Pete Butler will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Davis-Struempf Funeral Home, 1975 East-West Connector, Austell, GA 30106. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 at the funeral home.
