Troy Dailey's Obituary
Troy Dailey, age 76, of Temple passed away surrounded by his family July 25, 2021.
Troy proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was the last surviving member of his platoon. He was a “Seabee”, or C.B. for Construction Battalion. He also served in an advancing party to make a way for Marines and others to come into an area. After Troy’s military service, he went on to serve in multiple capacities with the Atlanta Police Department. Having served as a detective, motorcycle police, hit-and-run investigator, he finally retired after 27 years in the rank of Sergeant from the City of Atlanta Police Department.
Troy also loved working with children. He was a little league umpire, a high school referee, and worked many years with the Atlanta Police Athletic League. The Atlanta PAL planned athletic and academic activities aimed at teaching moral, civic, academic, and social principles to at-risk youths; this was a very dear cause to Troy’s heart.
Troy is preceded in death by his parents, James and Alphia Dailey; and siblings, J.C. Dailey, Dot Presley, William Franklin Dailey, Richard Dailey, and Lois Phillips. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte Elaine Dailey; sons, Matt (wife, Amy) Dailey of Austell and Marc Dailey of Temple; siblings, Leroy Dailey of Social Circle, Albert (wife, Hazel) Dailey of Jefferson, Linda Powers of Eatonton, Dianne Amos of Athens, and Danny (wife, Carole) Dailey of Silver Creek; grandchildren, Kayla, Nicole, Destiny, Amber, and Mackenzie; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Junior, Aiden, Silas, and Trent; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
