Tracy Maria Barneys' Obituary
Tracy Maria Barneys was born on December 1, 1962 in Jamaica, Queens NY, as the only child to Elizabeth Leite and Edward Johnson. Tracy was a bright, spirited woman with a zest for life.
She was raised among loving siblings and cousins, forming lifelong bonds. After graduating from high school, she attended college with dreams of becoming an accountant before following a different path that led her to many meaningful experiences.
In 1985, Tracy met Dennis Barneys, and they married the following year. The couple moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina, where their daughter, Tiffany was born. Tracy later settled in Austell, Georgia, where she met Robert Ward, and together they welcomed her second daughter, Bobbi, in 1995. Tracy dedicated much of her life to caring for others. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, she served her patients with compassion and became a beloved friend to many. Always ready to help those in need, she was known for her generosity and honesty and was often called a “Real One”—someone who made sure everyone around her was taken care of.
Her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Momma T. She cherished every moment with them and found deep happiness in her role as grandmother. Tracy was a resilient fighter through every obstacle life placed in her path. She passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by love.
Tracy is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth; sisters, Deborah and Kelly; brothers, Stephen and Shennandoh; and grandson, Nyier. Tracy leaves a beautiful legacy to be continued through her Father: Edward; Brothers: Chris & Serge; Sister: Jaiah; Children: Tiffany (Canyon) & Bobbi; Grandchildren: Arianna, Aniyah, Avi, Arielle, Reiyn, & Braylen; Honorary Grandchild: Kaiden; Aunts: Bernadette & Theresa; Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of loving relatives and friends. Tracy’s love, laughter and strength will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her.
