Sylvia Louise Andre's Obituary
Sylvia Louise André passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 87.
Born on March 15, 1938, in Jumelle, a rural section of the commune of Verrettes, Haiti, Sylvia André lived her life with courage, love, and devotion. She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, and an affectionate great-grandmother. Her life was a seed of love planted in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sylvia received her primary education at the Daughters of Mary school in Verrettes. In 1963, she married Jean Ferma André. From this union came seven children, followed by twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She left Haiti in 1985 for Florida and eventually settled in Atlanta in 1997 to be closer to her family.
She was known as a hard worker who sacrificed to ensure her children's education. She was also known for her strong character, being determined, persistent, and unwavering. She was a very understanding, sincere, and loyal person, which earned her the respect of those around her. She was a good listener and empathetic, always ready to offer comfort and reassurance.
As the Word of God states in 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Today, we believe that Sylvia has completed her earthly journey and rests eternally in the peace of the Lord.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 17, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Open Bible Tabernacle, Austell. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Jean Delto officiating
Interment will follow the service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
