Steven Lynn Hayes' Obituary
Steven Lynn Hayes passed away on Jan 23, 2024 at his home in Smyrna, GA. Born on May 3, 1951 in Farragut, TN, he was the son of Virginia L. Hayes. He is survived by four children and three grandchildren. His children are Mike Hayes (wife Abby) of Atlanta, GA; Craig Hayes of Denver, CO; and Michelle and Stephanie Hayes of Jonesboro, GA.
Shortly after graduating high school Steven left home to forge his own path. He became proficient in the refrigeration/HVAC trade which he did for 30+ years. After a previous marriage, Steven met Teresa through a mutual friend and began dating. They were soon married and welcomed Craig into the family. He legally adopted Mike when he was 10 years old, who was Teresa’s son from a previous marriage.
Steven loved farm animals and regularly went to livestock events. He raised goats, chickens, and dogs in his free time. Steven was a hard working father that taught his children about being reliable and dedicated. He could fix or build anything he put his mind to. He would often take his sons to job sites when they were younger to explore and play. Steven loved his family very much and constantly talked about his grandchildren who called him “Pop.”
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
