Stephen Anthony Waldrop's Obituary
Stephen Anthony Waldrop, age 48, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020. He was born on September 4, 1972 in Austell, GA to Jerry W. Waldrop and Ruby L. Waldrop. He grew up in Powder Springs, GA where he then proudly served and protected his community as a police officer, followed by service as a police officer in Smyrna, GA.
Stephen was an adoring and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was dedicated to his family first and foremost and he treasured them more than anything else. He was funny, kind, creative, artistic, loving, and selfless. His smile, charm, and laugh were contagious and you could not help but to be joyful in his presence! His love for others was evident in his service to so many, both friends and strangers. He especially loved serving children at the annual “Shop with a Cop” events!
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Waldrop; his children, Savannah Waldrop, Lauran, Lendy, and Lane Palmer; his father and mother, Jerry and Ruby Waldrop; his sister Angela (Chris) Murphree; his nephews, Connor, Dylan, and Samuel Murphree and niece, Sarah Kate Murphree; sister-in-law ,Alicia Danielle Pittman, and nieces Skye Figueroa and Katie Figueroa; his grandmothers, Martha Houston and Val Waldrop; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, October 8th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell, GA. Please join us in celebrating his life on Friday, October 9th, at 11:00am at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram, GA with Pastor Mike Parker officiating. Burial following the service will take place at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens.
Stephen was a casual man and the family would like his Celebration of Life to reflect that. As an honor to Stephen, the family kindly requests that guests come dressed comfortably in jeans and t-shirts.
