Shirley Eidson Thurmond's Obituary
Shirley Eidson Thurmond of Atlanta Ga. passed away peacefully in her home on May 25,2024. Shirley Marie Eidson was the youngest daughter of Reverend William Homer Eidson and Lela Sosebee Eidson. She was born in Paulding County on October 31, 1936. She moved to Atlanta after graduating from Dallas High School where she met her husband and raised her family.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ralph Neville Thurmond, and children, Alan Ralph Thurmond (Marty), Scott Eidson Thurmond (Nancy), and Stuart Michael Thurmond (Sue). Shirley was blessed with four grandchildren, Jake Thurmond (Kayla), Jonathan Thurmond (Natalie), Ashling Thurmond Osborne (Jonathan), Patrick Fagan (Katie).
Also, five great grandchildren, Liam Thurmond, Greer Thurmond, Maura Thurmond Osborne, Samantha and Henry Fagan.
She is also survived by one sister, Lettie Thackston; sisters-in law, Nell Eidson, Lynn Eidson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Curtis Eidson, Para Lee Crew, Izetta Landers, Artis Eidson, Fay Rakestraw, W.L. Eidson, and Douglas Eidson.
She attended and served at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church for many years where there will be a Family Graveside Service which will be followed by a Reception of Remembrance. The reception will be on Thursday, May 30th, 3:00 p.m. at the Village Center in Presbyterian Village, 2000 East-West Connector, Austell, GA 30106.
