Shirley Durmire Reece's Obituary
Shirley Durmire Reece, age 82 of Douglasville passed away August 31, 2024.
She was a loving and caring woman who had a great personality and enjoyed talking to anyone. She never met a stranger.
Shirley was a devoted Christian. She was a member of Zion View Baptist Church where her husband, Rev. Wiley Reece officiated. She was very involved with the church and sang in the choir. Shirley was a current member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Shirley enjoyed spending time outside, especially gardening and fishing. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Wiley Glenn Reece; parents, Clyde and Lela Durmire; sister, Laverne Durmire.
Shirley is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Cheryl and David Bowen of Mableton; son, Darrell Whitfield of Douglasville; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Jennifer Bowen; Christopher and wife, Courtney Bowen; Emmalee Whitfield; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Alli, Cheylee, and Sterling.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
