Shirley Melvin's Obituary
Shirley Anne (Holt) Melvin, age 86, passed away on October 24th, 2019.
She, along with her twin brother Edwin, was born on October 22nd, 1933 and was the daughter of Aubrey (Jack) and Mae Holt. She was a graduate of Ft. Knox High School. Shirley worked in the banking industry in many different capacities the majority of her career.
Shirley was very involved in her church for many years and was a lover of all types music (especially Johnny Mathis). She loved to bake and cook (she made the best potato salad and ham rolls) and always enjoyed being with family. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
Shirley is survived by her children, Robyn Karr, Dawn Melvin, Kevin (Susan Sumner) Melvin, and Brian (John Sarbacker) Melvin. Shirley is further survived by her grandchildren Kyle (Joanna) Melvin, Brandon (Nicole) Jones, Jarrod (Nabi) Melvin, Jordyn Karr, Cole Melvin and Layne Melvin; great- grandchildren Bryce Melvin, Blaine Hill, Peyton Jones, Grayson Campbell, Pierce Melvin and Finley Melvin; her sister Janet (Don) Profant, and brother David (Carolyn) Holt, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her parents and her twin brother, Edwin Holt, preceded Shirley in death.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16th with a visitation to begin at 1pm and the service to follow at 2pm.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Nurses and Doctors at Kennestone Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Society.
