Sheronda Deloris Cantey's Obituary
Sheronda Deloris Cantey, age 42 of Mableton, was taken from us too soon on January 7, 2024. Sheronda was born to Leroy Cantey Sr. and Rosa Lee Cantey (neé Pompey) in Manning, SC. She spent her early childhood in Greeleyville, SC, and the family moved to the Cobb County area when she was 13. Sheronda graduated from Campbell High School in Smyrna.
Sheronda was a loving, faithful, and loyal person. Family time was important to her, and her sister was her very best friend. She loved her nieces and nephews dearly and was passionate about improving their lives. She was outspoken, playful, and had a sense of humor that could light a room. We are heartbroken that her precious spirit is no longer with us, but we will carry our memories of her with us always.
Sheronda is preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Keith Pompey; nephew, Anthony Keith Jones; grandparents, Bernice Pompey, Samuel Lee Pompey, Dorothy Mae Cantey, and James Cantey, Sr.; aunt, Evelyn Conyers and her husband, Manuel; and cousins, Manuel Conyers, Jr. and Felicia Conyers.
She is survived by her loving parents, Leroy Cantey, Sr. of Marietta and Rosa Lee Cantey of Austell; siblings, Monica Jones of Austell, Leroy Cantey, Jr. and his wife, Kaonne Prescod of Decatur, and Cedric Cantey and his wife, Monica of Douglasville; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
With love from Sheronda's family, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
A funeral service honoring Sheronda’s life will be held Saturday, January 20th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Chaplain Franklin Pompey. Interment will follow the service at Barber Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.
