Sandy McCain-Vinson's Obituary
Sandy McCain-Vinson, age 68, of Douglasville passed away August 26, 2023. Sandy was born in Atlanta to Leon and Della Lindsey, but was raised in Mableton. She graduated from South Cobb High School and was captain of their drill team. Sandy had a long, successful career with Peachtree Fabrics where she was the Corporate Credit Manager. She retired from there after 35 years of service.
Sandy was very involved in sports through out her life. She was an avid reader and truly adored her dogs. She was also a hot rod aficionado who loved to drive her Cadillac Escalade around town. From fast cars to speedy motorcycles, she loved them all.
Sandy was a funny, feisty, and a ferocious protector of those she loved. Tough but tender, you always knew where you stood with her. She was a very giving person and you could never leave her house without her trying to give you something before you left. She never asked for anything in return. Her family recounts that while she was at her cancer treatments, she asked the chaplain to pray for the other people there, not for herself. She was truly a precious person and a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Steve McCain; and sister, Marion Williams.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Kenneth Vinson; children, Kerri Beasley of Cartersville, Casey Fike (spouse, Britt) of Bowdon, Summer McCain (spouse, Dyan) of Carrollton, Julie Allen (spouse, Brett) of Jacksonville, AL, Jenny Gann (spouse, Josh) of Alexandria, AL, and Amanda Price (spouse, Cody) of Tuscaloosa, AL; sister, Vickie Sexton (spouse, Rickey) of Powder Springs; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several beloved nieces and nephews; and many beloved extended family and friends
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30th, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Mike Woods officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
