Sally Mae Powell's Obituary
Mrs. Sally Mae Powell, of Dunbar, Nebraska, and formerly of Austell, died on January 22, 2009, she was 97. She was born April 13, 1911 in Waco, Georgia to G.W. and Lillie Myrtis (Senft) Cannon. She married Samuel Ford Powell on March 8, 1950 in San Pedro, California. She is survived by her son, William Pinkard and his wife Parr of Woodstock; daughter, Katherine Wallace of NE; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Dillingham of Austell; niece Phyllis Price of Austell; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 28, 1998; grandsons, Tyler Pinkard and William Scott Pinkard; three sisters and one brother. She lived in Tuolumne, California for more than 30 years before moving to Nebraska in 2004. She was a homemaker and a member of the 39ers in Sonora, CA for many years. She enjoyed sewing, Red Hats, and her 1966 Ford Mustang. By her friends she was affectionately known as "Mustang Sally!" Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Austell. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory.
