Ruth Lamar's Obituary
LAMAR, Ruth Rooks Lamar, age 88, of Austell, died Sunday, March 21, 2010. Mrs. Lamar was owner/operator of Lamar’s Clothing Store in Austell for 60 years, and was a member of Douglasville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband M. L. Lamar, Sr., daughter, Janet Lamar, and brother Milton Rooks. Survived by daughter, Margaret Lamar Miller of Lithia Springs; son, Marlin Lamar, Jr., of Austell; grandchildren, Clint Miller, Marla Miller (Tom) Dexter, Stephanie Lamar (Blake)Beverly, Lexi Lamar, and Luke Lamar; great- grandchildren, Morgan Dexter, Brayley Beverly, and Chandler Dexter; sister, Martha Rooks Wood Jones of Decatur, and Estelle Wynn of Villa Rica; brother, Robert Rooks of San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sweetwater Valley C.A.M.P., P.O. Box 802, Austell, GA 30168. Services will be held Tuesday, 7 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel, with graveside services Wednesday, 2:30 PM, Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Jere Via officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 PM and Wednesday from 12-2 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
