Ruth Anna Flanagan's Obituary
Ruth Anna Taylor Flanagan age 87, of Austell, passed away September 21, 2022.
Ruth was the daughter of LTC D.R. Taylor and Effie Mae Taylor. She was born in Manilla, Philippines and grew up in an Army family, where her father’s military service moved the family around the country and the world.
She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Science from NC State and worked as a counselor for the Cobb County school system.
Ruth was a long-time resident of Austell. She enjoyed spending time at her second home in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina, where she was fond of the scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Her hobbies included photography, swimming, and bird watching. She loved nature and animals. Ruth could be seen walking her dogs frequently in her neighborhood.
Ruth especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, to whom she was known as “Granna” and “RTF.” She was a very peaceful person and will be missed dearly.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, David Lloyd Flanagan.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and two siblings.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday 1:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery.
