Russell "Buddy" Allison's Obituary
Russell Brabson Allison, fondly known as “Buddy”, age 76, of Powder Springs passed away October 1, 2024.
Buddy was born to Russell Levi Allison and Dorothy Neal Allison in Atlanta. He spent the first three years of his life in Atlanta, then moved to the Austell area. Buddy graduated from South Cobb High School, Class of 1966. Two years after graduation, in 1968, Buddy married the love of his life, Becky Darlene Mitchell, and the two raised a beautiful family in Powder Springs.
Buddy had a varied and active roll in his community. For 25 years, he was a square dance caller, which brought he and Becky many years of fun and took them all over the country. He was a valued member of the Springville Masonic Lodge in Powder Springs, the Paulding County Shrine Club, and Hiram First Baptist Church. Buddy cherished the friendships these organizations brought him. His other interests include the great outdoors; he loved to hunt and fish. Above all else, Buddy loved to be a Pawpaw, and his grandbabies were his pride and joy.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Dorothy Allison.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Becky Mitchell Allison; children, Rusty Allison (wife, Michele) of Cedartown, and Julie Anderton (husband, Scott) of Douglasville; siblings, Kenneth Allison (wife, Linda) of Cedartown, Bobby Allison of Colbert, Gail West (husband, Allen) of Jefferson, Dale Allison (wife, Diane) of Flowery Branch, and David Allison of Cumming; grandchildren, Brittani (husband, Bobby), Madison (husband, Gage), Makayla (husband, Caleb), Ashley, Will, and Allie; four great-grandchildren; and many beloved extended family and friends.
A funeral service honoring Buddy’s life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Dr. Ike Reighard officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a cause that was very dear to Buddy’s heart, the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, at https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en.
