From the moment I met Dad I knew we would be friends. He opened up his heart and his home to me like I had been part of the family forever. There is nothing I can say about him that hasn’t been said so many times, by so many people. He was a great person and I will never forget the kindness in him or the patience he had. I mostly will be forever grateful that he raised my husband to be the man he is today. The love, patience, understanding and kindness Michael has for me is truly a reflection of how dad raised his sons.
I have several memories of Dad but my favorite one is, Dad and I were talking on the phone and as we were saying our goodbye’s, I said I love you and Dad said “I love you too”. Michael goes did he just tell you he loved you? I said yes, Michael says “I don’t think he has ever told me he loved me before getting off the phone”. My response to Michael was, Well, I told you Dad loves me more than he does you and that just proved it. We all know Michael was joking, but it made me feel very loved by dad.
Another memory is of us playing Rook at mom and dad’s house. Dad and I were partners and let me tell you, he is the best darn partner at Rook you could ever hope for. We would win every hand and make every one so mad. We were accused of cheating many times. I just want to go on record saying, “we never cheated, we just know how to play the game. I miss my rook partner, there will never be another like him.
I love you DAD!
