Roger Piatt's Obituary
Mr. Roger Dwight Piatt, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 after a brief illness.
Roger was born in Bellaire, Ohio on November 30, 1943. He graduated from Alliance High School in Alliance, Ohio and with his mother’s blessing enlisted in the United States Marine Corp before his eighteenth birthday. He served his country with pride during the early days of the Viet Nam Conflict. Roger was employed with Koch Transportation Systems as a long-haul driver.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Joyce;
His children & their spouses:
Kathy Piatt Clymer,
Steve & JoAnn Piatt,
Cheri & Greg Audler, and
Jeff Gilbert.
He leaves behind to cherish memory his grandchildren:
Christopher & Jonathan Clymer,
Matthew Gilbert,
Nathan & Alyson Audler,
Janell (Doug) Leigh,
Heather (Brian) Nowe;
and great grandchildren: Mackenzi, Gracie & Ethan Leigh.
Also surviving are his Ohio family: sisters, Patricia Warner, Diane (Dave) Weaver;
Brothers, A.D. Piatt, Jim Piatt, Don Piatt (of LA);
In-laws, Dick & Patty Yoo;
And a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, David Piatt; and sister, Lyda Eileen Weaver.
His was a mixed and loving family and all will miss his quiet and thoughtful manner and devotion to family and country.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. James Kcuzynski, M.S. officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM.
