Mr. Joe Olvey, age 51 of Powder Springs died Thursday, October 9, 2008. Mr. Olvey retired from Sears as a Service Technician after 29 years of service. He is survived by his father, Marvin Olvey,Sr., of Smyrna; Daughter, Breanne N Read Obituary
I met Joe when I went to work for Sears. He was always helpful and upbeat. He could always be depended on if you needed diagnostic guidance. It wasn't long after going to work for Sears Joe and I were talking about our family. It was then that we both learned that his brother Marvin and my brother Danny(Wilbur) were friends and had worked together. A small world it is. I had to honor of working with Joe at Sears for several years before he retired. Joe was the first tech to take me under his wing and help me learn washer/dryer repair. I would not be were I am today without his help. Working with him also grew into a friendship outside for work..I enjoyed many a dinner and baseball game with him. Joe and I were classmates at Osborne High School. After graduation we drifted apart for several years until I had the great pleasure of working with him at Sears for almost 30 years. I will always cherish the fond memories I have of my friend and coworker Joe Olvey.

I've known Joe for the last 15+ years from working with him at Sears. Joe was really a nice guy, funny and always willing to help out a person whenever he could. I know he was loved by many and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
I recently loss my sister and mother within 6 weeks from each other and I know the loss you are feeling, but know that the Lord has wrapped his arms around Joe and taken away all his pain and healed him.
And I know that the Lord is watching over his family and friends to help us with our loss.
