Robert E. Long's Obituary
Mr. Robert Ervin Long, Jr., age 77 of Powder Springs, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009. Mr. Long was a member of First UMC of Powder Springs, served 19 years in Navy Air Corp. Reserves, was a member of Powder Springs City Council, was on the Board of Directors for Austell Gas System for 43 years, and he retired from Bank of America after 45 years in banking. He enjoyed woodworking and was a wonderful husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Long McClure. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Isley Long. His son, William Anthony Long (Tony) and his family: Marlene Ann Long, granddaughter, Christina Abigal Long & grandson, Nathan Anthony Long.
His daughter Robin’s family: James Russell McClure, Jr., grandson, James Russell McClure, III (his wife, Rebecca Watkins McClure, & their children, Kiley Robin, Kinsey Elizabeth, Kennedy Grace, & Kelsey James,) granddaughter, Jamie Marie McClure. His son, Dale Long and his family: Antwynette V. Long, grandson, Robert Dale Long, Jr.(his wife Jessie Brianna Long & their children, Alyssa Morgan & Ansley Mae,) grandson, Nicholas Justin Long (his wife, Laura Elizabeth Long & their child Nicholas Justin, Jr.,) grandson, Alexander Thomas Long. His son, Scott Edward Long and his family: Lisa Braden Long, granddaughter, Blair Long Allen (her husband, Brandon Allen & their children, Jordan Faith, & Brayden Joseph,) grandson, Cale Edward Long (his wife Leah Davis Long & their child, Hunter Edward.)His son, Russell Glenn Long and his family: Wendy Collins Long, grandsons, Luke Calvin Long, Levi Collins Long, John Russell Long and granddaughter, Emanueli (Emmie) Grace Long. His brothers and sisters: Maurine Daniell, Robert Benny Long, Owen Long & Mae York and his Sisters-in-law: Emmie Long & Margaret Long. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First UMC of Powder Springs with Rev. Susan Gray Ashe officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Saturday 4 – 8 PM and Sunday 2 – 6 PM at the Funeral Home.
