Robert Warner, MD's Obituary
Dr. Robert Warner, age 60 of Vinings, died unexpectedly January 14, 2011. Born to Mary and George Warner in Long Island, NY, he had spent the last 22 years as a cardiologist at Cobb Heart Clinic and Wellstar Cobb Hospital. Robert was educated by Culver Military Academy in Indiana and Williams College in Massachusetts, as well as medical school in Paris, France. He described these years in Paris as his most formable, amazing years, where he learned to appreciate gourmet food, diverse cultures, travel, and most importantly developed many of his closest, lifelong friendships. Upon returning to the United States, Robert completed his residency in Internal Medicine, then a fellowship in cardiology at Emory University Hospital. Outside of his thriving cardiology practice, his three loving children were his passion. He not only showed them the world through extensive traveling, but also encouraged them to develop their own passions by teaching them to ski, scuba dive, play squash, cook, speak french and appreciate anything Francophile. But most importantly, he taught them how to be zealous for life just as he was. He will be remembered with love for his amazing generosity by his family, staff, and patients. He is survived by his children, Catherine Warner, medical student at Medical College of Georgia; Brian Warner, senior at Amherst College in Massachusetts; Elizabeth Warner, junior at Bowdoin College in Maine; and his mother, Mary Warner of Vinings. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 PM. A memorial service will be held at St. Benedict's Episcopal Church in Smyrna on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
